The latest College Football Playoff poll was released Tuesday night and there really wasn’t any movement. What we already knew was that Memphis is in the driver’s seat to secure the New Year’s Six berth, which would most likely place the Tigers in the Cotton Bowl.
There are now only four G5 teams in the rankings with Memphis polling at No. 18, Cincinnati No. 19, Boise State No. 20 and Appalachian State No. 25. If you want to hear Rob Mullens chat about it, here you go!
Of course there is still much to be decided as Memphis and Cincinnati will go at it in the Liberty Bowl this Friday, and possibly once more in the American title game. There are scenarios that would allow for Boise State to jump the AAC teams, but it would likely take a miracle for App State to get to Dallas.
One team that is not ranked that still could have a shot is Navy. The Midshipmen could sneak into the AAC title game with a Memphis loss Friday, which would produce a Cincinnati-Navy showdown.
This weekend will give us many answers to which team will move on to the NY6.
